The Christmas Tag!

Some questions about my favourite time of year and my very first tag!

When do you start getting excited for Christmas?

Usually, around mid-October I begin to get super excited about festivities and at the end of November I start to look forward to the day itself.

Do you still have advent Calendars?

Absolutely!! In fact, this year I have three (very greedy of me, I know). To me chocolate tastes that much better out of a little window in an advent calendar...

What are some of your favourite Christmas films?

I adore The Polar Express, Elf, Home Alone and The Nativity but to be honest I love all of the festive films I've watched. Like most Christmas films, they are definitely feel-good movies.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

Christmas morning of course! I always have and I probably always will!

Do you like to stay in your PJs or dress up for Christmas day?

I like to stay in my PJs for the whole morning whilst I eat breakfast and present-opening commences, then I dress up a little and do my makeup all pretty for Christmas lunch.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Without a doubt my favourite is I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. It brings back wonderful childhood memory's and it's just brilliant! I also really like Fairytale of New York, Merry Christmas Everybody and Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass.

Real or fake Christmas tree?

I definitely prefer real Christmas trees, I think they are much prettier than false ones but I've never actually had a real one which saddens me. Decorating the tree is good fun but it's not the same with a fake tree and the fragrance of a real Christmas tree is unbeatable.

Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Annoyingly, no I haven't. In all the films it snows on Christmas morning and its all perfect but I've not experienced the beauty of a white Christmas...

Any Christmas traditions?

Yes! On Christmas Eve I always watch a festive film before I go to bed. It started when I was very young and I have carried on the tradition.

That's it for now, I hope you enjoyed another Christmassy post from me!

The Best Thing About Christmas

The best thing about Christmas will obviously be different for each Christmas enthusiast; there's the decorations, the advent calendars, Christmas songs, festive films, jumpers with Santa's face emblazoned on them and not forgetting the presents (I could go on and on and on). However cheesy it may seem, for me, the best thing about Christmas is giving presents to my nearest and dearest. It makes me really, really happy.

I cannot wait to give my presents this year, I love to see my friends faces as they open their gifts and I've set myself a new record! All my gifts bought and wrapped by December 14th, not bad eh?
Aside from giving presents I also love being with my family at Christmas and, like most people, I enjoy eating more than my body weight in Christmas food!

The one bad thing about Christmas is that we only get one day to truly celebrate it, then again this means we get to push the boat out and make our celebrations incredibly special...

Christmas is my favourite time of year, I always enjoy it and I hope you enjoy it too. Have a very Merry Christmas everyone!!  <3

It's Beanie Season!

It is officially the Season of Beanies, by which of course I mean we have entered Autumn/Winter. It is now more than acceptable to wrap up in snug knitted jumpers, scarves and woolly hats. 'Tis the season to be cozy! I am forever wearing beanies and woolly hats and seem to have an ever growing collection. I can't seem to rein myself in when it comes to purchasing knitwear! This is part of the reason I love Autumn so much: I get to wear all of the warm clothes I've been saving up all year...

For me, Autumn is the greatest season; the slight chill to the air, the drizzle and obviously the beautiful leaves. But that is not all that Autumn has to offer, oh no! With the colder days and darker nights Autumn brings with it the countdown to Christmas. Some people love the countdown and some loath it, I love Christmas and everything related to it. You just can't beat the excitement, the anticipation and the occasional moment fretting about the gifts you should get for other people.

You know it's really Christmas time when you start to see festive adverts on the telly, the Coca-Cola Christmas advert in particular! Others are finally beginning to join me in being excited for the festive celebrations, however I have been counting the sleeps until Santa since the middle of October (I apologise, I got a bit carried away this year!).

If you are one of the slightly more normal people who don't get too excited until much later in the year, then I'm very sorry; but I do hope that you start to get into the festive spirit soon...

So, what is your favourite part about the Autumn/Winter time? Are you excited for Christmas yet?

Review: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time

First of all...WOW! I knew that this was a popular play but I was not expecting it to be one of the best things I have ever seen!

The show is based on the award winning book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, written be Mark Haddon and has been adapted by Simon Stephens  to create an absolutely wonderful theatre production. The play has won seven Olivier Awards including Best New Play and whilst it may not have a catchy title, it certainly has a memorable story...

The play is about a fifteen year old boy, named Christopher Boone, who has a form of autism. He wakes one morning to find that his neighbors dog has been killed with a garden fork and he is desperate to investigate this terrible crime, hoping to seek out the culprit. The play takes you on Christopher's journey as he discovers things about his own life as well as other peoples lives during his quest to solve the mystery that is the death of Wellington the dog.

Even if that doesn't sound like it would appeal to you, Fear Not!! As you will be amazed at the fantastic stage and the lighting. I was completely awestruck by what the lighting added to the incredible acting and how much the stage made me feel like I was in the middle of all the drama. These things really are the icing on the cake.

The Curious Incident struck the perfect balance between moving me (I was almost in tears) and making me laugh. At times I was chuckling and at others I had my heart in my mouth. When the end of the play arrived (I didn't want it to end), I felt like I knew Christopher inside out.

I decided very shortly after the show had finished that it is my favorite play. EVER. I immediately wanted to see it again! I only wish that I had gotten my hands on a copy of the book before I saw the theatre production as that is just one of the little things I like to do. However, the book is now at the very top of my Christmas list. (Sidenote: Oh My Gosh! It's getting close to Christmas!!!!)

I sincerely hope that The Curious Incident is not made into a film as I believe that it would somehow be ruined and the magic of the theatre show will forever be lost in cinemas. Don't get me wrong, I adore films, but I hope that the fabulous story will remain undiscovered by people who haven't seen it or read the book. This way it will be an amazing secret between us :)

That's it for today's post, hope you enjoyed it! x

P.S: I am not a professional Theatre-Goer so this isn't going to be a fantastic review, I just got excited and wanted to share my thoughts with you!

10 New Songs You Should Listen To

Recently I have been enjoying quite a few new songs; some by artists that I know and love and some that by artists that are a new discovery for me. I thought I would share these but I shall warn you, all of my choices are rock songs. Whether you are a fan of these artists or not I suggest you give them a listen, broaden your horizons musically! So here are the 10 songs that I recommend to you (in no particular order):

1. Lonely Girl by Tonight Alive

Tonight Alive are one of my new discoveries. I had heard of the band before but I hadn't listened to any of their music. Lonely Girl is a really good, catchy pop punk song.

2. Lighthouse by Mallory Knox

I really love the lyrics to this song and often find myself singing them all day long.

3. A Love Like War by All Time Low featuring Vic Fuentes

I am a big fan of All Time Low and also of Vic Fuentes (from the band Pierce The Veil) and I think the voices of Alex Gaskarth and Vic Fuentes sound awesome together. This song is from the limited edition album called Don't Panic: It's Longer Now! which features other great new songs such as Oh, Calamity and Canals.

4. Save Rock And Roll by Fall Out Boy featuring Elton John

This is the last track on the eponymous 2013 album. I love Fall Out Boy and the entire Save Rock And Roll album but this track really stands out to me.

5. Peace by Kids In Glass Houses

This is the first I have heard of this band and it is a fab song. It is another really catchy tune.

6. You Wanna Know by Don Broco

I think this song sounds similar to a couple of songs on the Don Broco album Priorities, but it is still a pretty amazing song and it makes me want to dance around (badly haha).

7. Lived A Lie by You Me At Six

A first-class song following the bands last album Sinners Never Sleep. I am really excited for their new album and I hope it's released soon!

8. Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High by Arctic Monkeys

There isn't much to say about this except that it's an amazing song by an amazing and Legendary band.

9. Alone by Sleeping With Sirens

I love the sound of Kellin Quinn's (lead singer of the band) voice and I really like the video too.

10. Wrecking Ball by Patty Walters (YouTube Cover)

I don't really like the original version of this song by Miley Cyrus but one of my favorite YouTubers, Patty Walters, did a super, super awesome cover and I fell in love with his version of the song.

So those are the 10 songs that I urge you to listen to and I hope that if you do listen to them, you enjoy them.
What are the 10 songs that you would recommend?

Review: Maybelline The Mega Plush Mascara

Recently I purchased the new Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum' Express mascara, I mentioned it in my last post and decided I would review it.

It is a Gel-Mousse mascara and it is supposed to stop your lashes from becoming brittle. It definitely does this. The lashes feel soft to the touch and look slightly more natural.

The wand is the new Flexor-Brush, this means that that the end of the wand is flexible. I feel like this helps to grab my lashes more and it goes through my lashes with more ease than a regular rigid wand does. I love that the brush is flexible as it's quite unique. This mascara lengthens my eyelashes immensely, especially because I don't have particularly long lashes ordinarily. It also defines and separates them, it makes my eyes look more awake.
Another great thing about this is that it doesn't make my eyelashes look clumpy, this is a big factor for me as I really hate having a clumpy mascara, I don't think it's a good look.

The only issue that I have with this otherwise fabulous mascara, is that it smudges on the bottom lashes. I suppose this is because of the size of the wand, which is great on the top lashes, just not so much on the bottom ones. To remedy this problem I have been using a different mascara which is waterproof and has a smaller wand, but just on the bottom lashes. Other than this the mascara is brilliant and I will definitely be using it in the future.

What do you think of The Mega Plush mascara?

Nice To Meet You

Hi Guys!
So, as this is my very first blog post I thought I'd write an introduction. This is my blog, I Get The Feeling, and it will be my little space on the internet to write about what I love and what matters to me most.

I was encouraged to start a blog by two of my good friends who also have blogs. You can visit them at
http://withadashofginger.blogspot.co.uk/ and http://www.quirkbutcool.blogspot.co.uk/ . I love both of their blogs and they inspired me to start a blog of my own.

I love to express my thoughts and writing is my favorite way to do so, I also love to write reviews and a blog is a great place to put my reviews. In the near future I will be posting reviews of books, films, beauty products and posts about style, music, things that I love and things that I hate.

I really hope that I can blog regularly as I think I am going to absolutely love this experience and I think I am already going crazy for blogging! I can already tell that I am going to have a heck of a lot of fun with this and I hope that you will enjoy my posts...
